Introduction of Hydroxypropyl (s) into the molecular of beta-Cyclodextrin hydrate breaks inner annular hydrogen bond and thus it increases the water solubility of beta-Cyclodextrin hydrate without breaking its molecular cavity.
1.In food and spice industry, HP-β-CD can increase stability and shelf-life of nutrient molecule, can cover or rectify unpleasant smell or taste of nutrient molecule. HP-β-CD has good water solubility, if the degree of substitution (DS) is greater than 4, it will be miscible with water, 50% ethanol and methanol water solution.
2.In cosmetic industry, it acts as stabilizer, emulsifier, and odor remover. It can reduce the irritation to skin mucosa tissue cause by organic molecule in the cosmetics.
